What are Brace Sores?

Few people are born with a perfect smile and every year thousands of people in the UK have some kind of orthodontic appliance fitted to correct the shape and/or the position of their teeth. The sores that you may develop on your lips or gums when you first start to wear your braces are Brace Sores. This is not unusual, as braces rubbing against your gums and / or lips can cause sores.

How do Brace Sores occur?

Brace sores occur as a result of braces rubbing against your gums and / or lips. It is normal to develop brace sores, especially when you first start to wear braces. Brace sores can be somewhat painful, but it is possible to ease this pain and help heal sores caused as a result of braces.

What should I do to help ease the pain of Brace Sores?

To relieve pain and help the healing process, massage a small amount of Bonjela gel onto the sore area.
